# Social media and the way we treat each other

Restored from Instagram stories · 26 August 2023

i do believe that social media has turned us into monsters instead of knitting us closer as a society.

social media was supposed to do that. it was supposed to help people be connected to people, get close to each other, help each other as a society since we have got into bigger cities, have to travel wide and far as we are growing.

but the opposite has happened.

we have grown into monsters who wants more followers. who wants more likes.

people measure having followers as a measure of success. it's not.

people are considering each as a 'number'

start talking to a fellow person in social media as a fellow human. instead of treating them as a number you can trade on. a number you can sell to.

i am disgusted to see people with huge following talking to themselves like this

: hey how many followers do you have?
: i have this many k followers. oh, you have that many k followers.
: how about we do a collab. we mutually can grow.

like, wtf is that? i don't understand. do you guys even see that as - isn't that cringe?

isn't that childish?

why is the follower number even a metric of success?

i have always wondered on how influencers are easily scamming people and sleeping peacefully whereas I can't even sleep without fixing some bugs in production or finish my work.

maybe it's due to how social media incentivizes the reward structure.

why can't you talk to people as a normal person?

yikes.

look at the conversations that all these big following people have on these meetups.

every conversation makes my skin crawl and my body twitch.

it makes me so angry that I want to burn the whole room.

its always about follower count, how many k, what was the reach,

hey - talk like a normal human you foookin weirdo. ask how they are. ask what they do. ask what they are doing in life, ask how you can help them.

their entire basis on networking depends on this online clout. what if your social media gets deleted over night? if I remove all of that, what are you?

the best part is this. all of this people will not hesitate to gang up and destroy another person if it means they can get more followers based on that.

not the slightest hint of loyalty. zero definition of what friendship is.

and I am appalled the true meaning of inter-personal relationship is lost with social media.
