few pointers - answering a barrage of messages for the past few days. i was largely inactive since i was busy irl.
1. regarding the goat slaughter. so many messages about animal cruelty. if you know me, you know that i dispatch them too. the cut was flawless. largely painless and quick. i prefer other forms of cut which will allow it to bleed fully but that’s another discussion.
but there is a gentleman way of doing it. in a modern civil world, not everyone can see that and stomach it. they love mutton but cannot see that. it’s alright.
the way the head was placed or the blood was splattered on the photo (regardless of who it is) or how the body was disrespected and dragged headless on the road? that’s not something i condone. you need to be respectful towards what you dispatch since it’s going to become your food. you’re taking nutrition from it. the disrespect is so gross.
plus. the way it’s done? that’s a threat. a life threat. it’s crass. disgusting and not something civil. the way they placed the head? that’s straight up a death threat.
should it be called out and criticized? yes.
just because you support a party and its ideology, or because you have to celebrate its victory - doesn’t mean you shouldn’t criticize those who taint what you’ve won.
this is even a disrespect to those who remained civil. there’s a subtle line which shouldn’t be crossed. the mutton biriyani is fine. even parading the goat - although borderline is fine.
take it out without making a video in a backyard, dispatch and make biryani? totally fine.
showing that to public? and the way you did that? total disrespect to that animal, and defeats the cause for you and the supporters.
optics are very important.
2. the second amount of messages i received was on the slap by a paramilitary personnel (cisf) on an individual (doesn’t matter who or what)
this is a bi-partisan issue - something both the left and the right should take care of.
as soon as you sign up for the armed forces, you can no longer afford to be political. you have to be neutral and serve the interests of the nation and your orders.
there is absolutely zero grounds for your own personal interests or ideology there.
because it’s a conflict of interest.
cisf is assigned to protect important government establishments, provide various levels of security (z plus, z, x etc.,) to protected persons etc.,
it’s their duty to ensure that they have to protect them regardless of what their own political ideology or the ideology of the person they’re tasked to protect.
they are the fence. they are supposed to protect the crops they are assigned to protect. not destroy the crops they are sworn to protect.
as soon as the female cisf personnel assaulted, she should have been pinned by her colleagues, handcuffed and led away to be arrested and await her court martial or diplomat action.
letting her continually talk about her politics with zero intervention by her colleagues and being captured by the media is super bad optics.
heavily bad optics on the integrity of the paramilitary force, national security since individuals guarding important properties such as nuclear facilities can be turned to act against any time, etc.,
no form of self respecting government would allow this. this must be crushed, almost brutally to send a message on the importance of being politically neutral when you join the armed forces.
plus this sets a bad precedent.
i was unhappy and sad seeing a lot of people from the left rejoicing this instead of condemning what happened.
imagine you are a protected individual or a normal common citizen and an armed forces individual slaps you, beats you, or even shoots you (i mean, what prevents? when violence is just a spectrum from light to heavy? violence is violence) just because you have left political ideology and the armed forces guy is an individual who has right-ideology?
imagine you getting slapped just because you belong to a left ideology by a right-ideology armed person?
imagine the outrage?
you can have thousands of reasons to hate an individual. let’s say even if they goad you just because of your name. your job is to file a complaint with your department. that’s it.
the machinery of the government must be respected. that’s how the system works. doesn’t matter who it is. no one should be allowed to cross the system.
respecting and upholding this system is what ensures there is democracy.
respecting the system and the mandate of the people in a democratic country is what prevents india from being pakistan.
it’s what prevents our military generals from doing coups like how it happens in pakistan.
the system and the government machinery is to be respected regardless of what political ideology you belong to.
if you’re someone celebrating that armed woman who slapped, you ought to correct yourself. a common citizen doing that is different. it can be seen as the voice of protests or people. put battery/assault charges. it’s different. celebrate that individual. it doesn’t matter.
but not when a cisf person or any branch of the government machinery does.
if you rejoice at that - do not cry fascism or dictatorship when the right does it on those who hold left ideology. what we sow is what we reap.
we must not allow this as the voice of the society.
we are far better in showing dissent.
