The economics of a successful creator

i like how people are surprised how much tech youtubers are earning.

it’s nothing close to what you see there. literally every video they put almost is am advertisement. every video where they put by getting devices on their own is also to pitch the company for ad videos.

i know so many who literally blackmail companies to give them ads or they’ll put videos on how bad their products are and can get away from defamation because they are actually bad. that’s extortion and they do it subtly by not threatening directly. i know who they are but can’t pin point because i don’t have proof.

the guy whom you think is making stupid reels? seems a lot.

and youtubing has become an organized business where people are investing money into making a successful channel instead of it being the place where creators started something and it later became professional.

so much i want to talk and there’s so little that people know.

odoo and duolingo both offered me $800 for every single video i make for a 30 second ad roll.

and $2k if i review it separately. so they’ll make monthly payments. imagine i make 5 or 6 videos a month and i roll ads?

and the last a2d video made 69k inr approx and they deposited 72 something k approx in inr (must be spillover which didn’t cross the $100 deposit threshold) - all which i cleared for complete donation as i’ve always did last year.

idk man. at some point it feels like dirty money.

you know that you’re gonna quit your full time job to do youtubing because just ad revenue is bringing in more than what your monthly salary.

to ensure you get that high ad revenue, you need to make more atrocious videos so that you can get more views. optimizing videos for views mean that you won’t be genuine in your videos nor would be your intent. art goes for a toss since it’s only eyeballs now.

not just ads, you’ll now sell your ability to make people view your videos as ad spaces to generate more revenue which will be higher than what youtube provides you.

absolutely zero experience learnt on real world skills.

i kinda like his new economy? or should you be worried that a lot of people are gonna take this up as a career because it makes a lot of money without understanding not all become successful?

so as a beginner youtuber who can’t create content like established one does and garner views, what do you now?

do something absolutely distasteful or cringe so that people will atleast view it to hate you? mint money with those views.

if you tone it down a little bit, there’ll still be brands which will take you on tours or cruises and pay you a lot.

i have more to add on to this with new gig economies on swiggy, zomato and zepto entering into new cities decimating local population’s low salaried workforce. it’s beautiful to look at the carnage. i will write on that more when i get free.

but i kinda get what this new economy is doing. although i understand why people do it, i dont think its healthy.

i am very transparent because i do things because i love to do it not because i have to do since i am rich enough and i dont need these for myself.

can’t say the same for others but we do need to talk about what kind of an effect this has on overall society’s growth.
