many of them asked my stand on the roe v wade issue.
let me clarify this in a much more deeper way. roe v wade does nothing but gives back power to the states in America. it just says that federal has no power and individual states can choose what to do with it (thus, upholding what union of states means) -- everyone shouting on social media has conveniently hidden this.
next.
i see, two takes of this in the internet.
1. far right -> calls for a blanket ban on abortion. they claim that they worry about children in the womb. nobody asks if they worry about lives after they are born.
2. far left -> wants to give complete autonomy on deciding whether to end a life inside the womb on their own choice because they are the ones carrying it.
the logic doesn't pan out that way because if that's the case, anyone can choose to murder someone because they gave birth to them or its because it's under their control.
far left believes that anything that is ine womb is a decision that a mother only can take and they kill even a 8,9,10 month baby and don't even want to consider it as a life. they call it as a foetus.
the irony is that - the left always wants to be oriented towards feelings but conveniently ignores them when it comes to babies and sticks to ultra technical terms to soften the fact that they are infact 'murdering' a life.
we saw both the takes.
only two takes in social media, internet and in the newspaper and never a moderate take.
the right
the problem exists in both sides of the spectrum.
but both the left and right exist in their own little world of echo chamber and call either for a blanket ban or the right to murder someone.
let me explain it even more deeply
[a point to revisit: these descriptions collapse a wide range of positions into two extremes. which positions are actually being argued, by whom, and under what circumstances? the disagreement needs to be represented fairly before drawing conclusions.]
as far as I am concerned, we need a more moderate approach.
let's go for the development stages of a fetus formation.
if i am not wrong it takes around 9 weeks (approx two months) to being the development of brain. increased awareness on detecting pregnancy should be made and people should be able to identify when they are pregnant.
classify and term when a fetus can be termed as having a life, started to develop as a baby and give that as the time period to abort for any reason whatsoever and reserve the rest for case by case for the if - conditions that we saw earlier.
let's take the govt. of tamilnadu for example. the govt. identifies and requires women to register when they are pregnant and starts giving care package for both thaai and sei. (women and her child inside the womb). why is that so ?
because the govt. identifies and recognises that there's a life.
killing that (yes, that's the term) after its identification, is MURDER. No one has the right to take that decision. Because it has life.
The govt. has identified and recognized the life of the baby now. The govt. believes that it has the responsibility to ensure that the women and the child growing inside her womb should be healthy. that's why the care package.
most teens here and mindless idiots support blanket abortion because they don't want to be responsible for the throw away sex they have.
sex used to be making love once. then it turned out to be casual. i am all okay with that.
take responsibility if you can't practice safe sex, identify it within the first two months.
don't try to normalise and insentivize people to the fact that you are killing a life by saying that the person carrying it as the full responsibility to do whatever they want.
the logic has no relevance because child care wouldn't exist and your parents can decide to kill you whenever they want (abusive parenting styles believe that they can decide what their child should be. it's not different from this mindset either)
so, when your mindset is actually a horror version of your parents abusive mindset, who is progressive actually ?
finding a moderate approach is the only sane way.
we aren't animals who doesn't differentiate b/w it's own mother, sisters and other opp. gender when it tries to mate.
we are humans. civilized. capable of higher societal connection and heavily intelligent.
don't be the idiotic far right and the idiotic far left.
a blanket ban on abortion is wrong. a blanket ban on calling for full abortion rights is wrong.
find the moderate approach.
do what's best for babies which can't speak for itself nor defend itself. they are vulnerable and depend only on its mother to protect, save, feed it and nourish it.
your decisions carry your own responsibilities.
most of you who are speaking so carelessly about abortions have never spoken to a mother who has lost their first born on miscarriage or in an abortion. they'll habe enormous stress and trauma.
most of you who are speaking carelessly about abortions would have never enjoyed or discovered the joy of being the father of a kid (or experience it when their partner goes through it)
it's common even to other species where the mother's lose their unborn kids.
don't lose your intelligence and rational thinking because of echo chambers. you don't have to side with either party.
you have your own BRAIN. Think.
[a later position, 19 october 2025: the later abortion essay puts bodily autonomy at the centre and argues that no one should be forced to carry a pregnancy. it also calls for material support so that parenthood is a real choice. that is a substantial change of emphasis from the accusatory framing in this 2022 essay. the later essay.]
you are free to choose your opinion.
i have the right to choose my own opinion and partner with someone who believes in mine.
to each their own.
your own opinion are yours and i won't debate nor judge you. it gives me zero incentives to do so.
i merely gave mine and i move out.
happy ? ๐๐
