Falling fertility and the cost of raising a child

Restored from Instagram posts ·

if you aren't scared of this, idk what can.

if the rate of death exceeds the rate of birth of a country, that country will soon crease to exist.

you can't put the blame on the people.

the govt. played a major part in propagating the falsehood of over population vs resource production. when you try to alter one artificially you tend to create a change, i.e., the increase of entropy in a system.

a dying nation whose population is rapidly ageing and falling down (the rate of death is more than the rate of births) will soon spiral down and economy will crash and millions will die.

[a qualification: below-replacement fertility does not by itself establish imminent collapse. age structure and migration affect the trajectory, and the economic outcome also depends on productivity and policy. Source.]

it's not just rate of births should be greater than the rate of death. many have to survive to adulthood, should be reasonably educated, their fundamentals should be taken care of so that they can help the economy.

the govt. should

- bring down the cost to raise a child /provide highly efficient medical and post natal care including food and medicine.
- bring down the cost of education
- bring down the cost of living

the govt. isn't doing that.

our medical care is at its worst with ho. of doctors to patients ratio.

let's get back to the discussion. sorry got busy in the meanwhile.

to explain things better, I'll let you know what fertility rate means - commonly known as TFR.

TFR: total fertility rate is calculated by the formula

Total fertility rate formula shown in the original post

fertility rate, average number of children born to women during their reproductive years.

For the population in a given area to remain stable, an overall total fertility rate of 2.1 is needed, assuming no immigration or emigration occurs.

If the TFR goes below 2.1, the state's population can't be replaced which leads to a slow death of that state (or) it will be replenished by the population of an other state - which in case, i don't have to explain what will happen.

The problem isn't just other countries.

let's come to Tamil Nadu.

The fertility rate in Tamilnadu

urban - 1.6
rural - 1.9

and the TFR is only 1.8

another important factor that even the TFR forgot was, the TFR formula and the calculation is only based on women.

no one talks about the impact of raise in infertility in men and the quality of sperm right now. it's done, dusted and heavily gone. Men will also be a prime reason in why the TFR went down and it's not just women.

the TFR will get worse in a decade and TNs population will become tough to gain back at that point of time. Families having the most children and have the ability to sustain them - will be richer at that point of time.

I'll stop it here and leave it to you for discussion.
