France’s left and the cost of an electoral alliance

Restored from Instagram stories ·

this is by far the biggest mistake that the french center left government of macron has done.

he partnered with far left to ensure that marine le pen was pushed to third place when her party has already won the largest % of votes (35%)

now macron’s centre left party doesn’t have enough votes to form the government.

and now macron has to align with the far left to form the government.

they already don’t align in many of their policies apart from the fact that they both hate marine le pen.

the insurgency and the rise of right wing to 35% is not a joke and should have been a matter of concern.

why did this increase? (reasons stated in my original essay on the rise of right wing in europe - and the fact that macron didn’t sort it out)

now it will increase more since they are gonna partner with far left to form and run the government.

this will lead to marine le pen capturing french presidency by 2027, and possibly making them go extreme far right (again, possibly) and the next government (and after that for atleast two or more decades)

what should have been done?

allow marine le pen to take the close victory, form the government. form a strong opposition and badger it consistently (this is what marine le pen is gonna do unfortunately)

she won’t have enough time to do whatever she promised in her campaign.

show that she can’t implement all what she had said. show other forms of economic graph going down and everything (it usually goes down for atleast 3 years or so when a government does radical change in so many policies)

win the presidency solidly and take back the government in the next election.

but alas, no. they won’t. and that’s how the french left will lose their next 2 or 3 decades.
