i am glad in a way that this is happening so that art can return to be art instead of trying to be a business. art was destroyed in the pursuit to make exemplary money off it with super greed. when the movie houses, producers and financiers go bankrupt, art will return to its original form and we'll see small movies again with actual art instead of the crap you're forced to watch.
art shot by artists, starring actual artists who went to film school. art where artists can really influence culture.
only the end of film industry as you know can lead to it's eventual rebirth. it must die for it to live.
i am not just throwing random words in the air, we back actions with money - because nothing else matters if someone isn't ready to have skin in the game. we invested $200k approx. (and more as we speak) to literally make a full featured film in nyc - approved the script, made sure the film maker had zero troubles with budget nor the script. zero blocks. never made a single change nor had a single say in who they hired to do the role and everything. we provided them with money and legal services from our venture studio so that they can execute the shooting, the documents which they sign etc., and probably this is the first investment where we broke our 100k USD investment thesis. the shooting is completed pending one pickup shoot and they're full into editing.
so i do know how this works. i do know how bad our film industry is. we did one of the smoothest production ever.
the filmmaker has already won awards. we simply trusted them. had a professional production crew handle the rest coordinating with the filmmaker.
smooth shooting, etc., every one auditioned was done accurately to the books chosen accurately for the script from film schools. that is art. and guess what?
even in rich nyc with daily actor costs going upto $350-500 per person + food and other costs, where i now know how much it costs for license, insurances, deposits and even camera rentals, - it's possible to actually make a full featured film with a not so big budget.
i wrote that i will invest and build in this industry two years back with a complete plan. and I said that I'll do it myself if no one else did.
i changed some plans and we did it ourselves. so, actors need to know that influencers and people who can get ticket sales to the films will replace them. don't fight it.
let it die. if you can, enable this so that the industry dies fast. only if it dies, actual artists can take it back.
