this is a bad take. it’s more of a fashion to hate apple instead of hating it for its actual cause.
what did those tech enthusiasts build by not using apple? you don’t use apple right? what did you build?
when i present an apple option, they always say - hey you’re an apple fan boi.
in fact i am not. as far as i am concerned, i choose machines to do the best possible work. i have no inherent bias because i don’t sell either of them. when students and most people ask me what’s the best machine they need as a student or as a professional,
the best bang for the money goes to apple. in fact, if you had read my previous essay i even gave a very low affordable windows option (refurbished laptops from amazon which cost less than 30k inr)
let me tell you why a student needs a mac mini/a macbook.
when you’re a student your top priority post finishing your degree is to get that job. high paying jobs that can make your family go from poor/lower middle class to upper middle class or rich.
regardless, everyone bickers about not getting a job.
apple enjoys a wide user base. a user base which is rich who pay in their appstores. apple users are more likely to buy an app than any other os users.
and getting a mac mini (the easiest economical way) - is the best way to learn to code for that ecosystem. getting hired an ios app dev is like a sure shot career. building apps for ios personally is also awesome since the chances of you earning a revenue from that is significantly higher than that of android or web. our indian students miss out a huge opportunity on not maximizing this potential.
always sell to those who have enough buying power.
now let’s talk about regular usage. for most common audience who wants a machine - apple is enough. video editing? coding? it’s enough.
for general browsing or normal work? it’s enough.
btw, what do you do other than this in your custom so expensive windows setup? tell me why 99% of the audience should have it instead of a 70k mac mini full desktop setup with monitor and keyboard + mouse?
ofcourse there’s not much to upgrade in a mac mini worth 60k inr.
but there’s nothing much you’ll do in that machine that would require an upgrade unless your job/profession/hobby wants something else specific.
which means - majority of the population who need a simple computer machine will be enough to go for years with the same one without needing an upgrade.
it needs an upgrade is a silly argument.

having said all of that, my advice was for general population and students.
i am not an apple fanboy. just telling you which is the best machine for that use case.
if yours requires what you need, go for it regardless of what build it is. machines are here to serve you and not the other way around.
