oh so we need a lot of CS engineers over the next 5 decades to build this industry eh?
okay. call some of my friends. make the total compensation for the role as so big. let's say $300k a year. get some offers rolled out and get a press release, carry it on all newspapers. highest placement offer. higher offer ever. interviews of the placed guy yada yada yada.
announce that this is the next hot job. all career counsellors will counsel this. edtechs and coaching centres will crop up to teach to in how to do this so that you can earn this money. for a few years, you'll even see them doing guaranteed placements for that salary.
and when your turn comes you are shocked, hey - why am I not getting placed? then you look around. except the top 1-10% of your class, no one else got placed in that job.
well, an important lesson in economics
demand and supply baby. demand and supply.
say it again? demand and supply.
you increase the supply larger than what the demand is. now when you know that the markets are full with candidates for that role, now - you know you have the upper hand on salary negotiation.
now - execute hiring freeze throughout company, enforce multiple performance improvement plans, send people off.
next round? do multiple levels of layoffs. get rid of everyone who were paid fat.
blame it on anything. AI is the latest excuse we have.
now you look at the market. start hiring again 6 months after layoff. new salary levels. the cycle has been reset.
the supply is so abundant. haha. you get to pick who you want at the salary you have kept. you as the company - exactly wanted this.
your long term growth plans and the resource availability for the same is guaranteed now.
enjoy.
