this person does something which can be categorised as bike vlogging.
do i consider him a decent rider ? he seems excellent at his skills. would go much further if he takes things professionally.
do i consider him toxic ?
nope. not at all. i saw few of his videos. correct me if i am wrong and if i missed any. apart from the fact that he over-speeds and he lives off the adrenaline caused due to those risky stunts,
it's no where different from someone trying something risky like mountain climbing, rope walking, or other crazy things.
unless this comes to mainstream public and becomes a nuisance, laws can be bought to crackdown them.
but it makes no sense to punish him.
[a distinction worth making: risk on a closed course and risk imposed on other road users are different. the argument against a media pile-on should not erase responsibility for exposing non-consenting people to danger.]
let me explain more on why.
any popular guy in 'biking' trying to organize a meet-up without organizing it properly is bound to have a lot of half assed experienced boys coming out in their own bikes trying to emulate their role model.
that's a public nuisance issue.
the best thing that TTF can do is to add a stunt disclaimer that it's done by trained professionals and not to be tried by people anywhere.
if TTF breaks any traffic violation or causes an accident, he'll get booked by the cops for that.
you can't go on about trying to punish each and everyone who is doing something that isn't suiting with you (unless it's a toxic act which comes as sexual abuse on children under the age of 18). i haven't come across anything that TTF has done.
I saw a lot of social media accounts in twitter calling for it to be curbed calling this as against our culture. Our so-called culture is super trained to ensure that someone has to bend their rules.
the eagerness shown by the society to show this much anger on him - if shown on their administrative officials, we'd have better infrastructure.
TTF doesn't deserve the hate it's getting from the culture vulture groups.
I'll tell you how it's gonna play. if TTF doesn't react, adds disclaimers on all of his videos, does his job properly - he can't be prosecuted for actions of somebody else.
we aren't on a dictatorship or police state to have the mandate of public. it's his own freedom. it's his own risk. That individual enjoys their own freedom and will get their own consequences. It's a high risk sport.
why didn't 'one single' culture guarder call for better professional training facilities for talents like these, get them on circuit and let them represent our national teams in international races ?
let this matter rest.
TTF will come out of this if he knows how to play his card right. He has a bad media reputation. Avoid going after the media. Ask his fans to not infuriate anyone. or else, this will just become another masqueraded public humiliation.
the problem with the media is that
it sees such popularity as a threat. traditional print media saw TV medium as a threat. then they saw YouTube channels as a threat.
but they all have a common consensus. the media believes that only they have the right to make someone famous or they'll be the same medium to break and shatter them too.
their power of PR can do everything
so when they see someone earning his own attention and popularity which isn't earning them the monetary value or the association that they are the ones who made them big,
they'll start looking for reasons to bring them down in the name of culture.
they'll keep a debate or a prime show and will flare public anger because they know how to manipulate the public into becoming angry.
and most of these guys fail because they play their cards wrong. play it safe and you can forever maintain it.
what i said has started. The choice of picture of him in the thumbnail, the bike speed.
designed to provoke and anger the common public who are hearing this news for the first time without seeing his YouTube
and TTF unfortunately isn't playing his cards right. there's still a chance for him to come out of this easily.
