i find people working in the waste management space to have more virtue signalling holier-than-thou attitude which is downright sickening.
every solution that they propose involves collection of garbage with loads of friction involved with users having to segregate the waste, or wash plastics, or to involve in multiple pain staking steps to dispose waste and then also pay a premium for its removal.
some with crazy grift attitude are placing bins with nfts.
none of this will scale. none of this will solve or stay true to your mission.
if your intention is to actually solve waste management, let's rethink this with the following points.
1. understand that you are here to solve something. you are not special. your mission is not special. you are here to solve and earn money. drop any virtue signalling. touch grass. save it for marketing.
2. understand that the area of waste management is the turf of the underground. a huge unregulated economy works around the scrap market, taking out things from landfill etc.,
tread this space carefully - see who is doing what, explore stakeholders, explore which has least resistance but causes huge problems - start from there.
3. can you build something where there's least resistance from people but the alpha that you offer should feel incentivised for them that the want to do that.
say - less fees if you segregate. 10x if you don't. mandated by gov. done, everyone does it.
they have a choice not to. but it comes at a cost.
4. how can you do this in a community model? how engaged can you be with the community w.r.t social responsibility on disposal of waste ?
can you create an ML model which identifies littering/spitting and adds fine to people ?
what can you do in tech and what can you do on ground that makes a huge difference that it requires a public-private partnership to execute that ?
these are the things i am interested in.
feel free to add to discourse in my DMs.
