What a society owes its own citizens

i have so many concerns on how the current indian govt. could be so much better.

so many political differences.

but to question the very nature of our constitution, the way the unification of our country was made,

the work the indian government as a system has done to ensure we’re at a largely peaceful state for the past 70 years at the levels the entire indian subcontinent has never been over the past 2k years - is something that we all should be happy about.

for all the shit you can throw at the government for not supporting minorities, you should remember that the partition was done based on religion.

pakistan doesn’t allow its minorities to enjoy the same rights as its majority.

still india is doing a better job and i am very hopeful that it could be improved with enough pushback as we are doing as a democracy.

so keep seditious talks at bay and remember the pledge you took.

i am not asking you to be jingoistic, but remember the oath you took.

remember,

a society is as good as how selfish it can be for its own growth and how much it cares for its own citizens. it’s the basic fundamental construction block at a street level, a village level, a city level, a state level and a country level.

if you go deeper, then it’s family and micro family and if you go personal, it’s your relationship and your friend circle around you.

we’ve so many macro and micro problems there. but you get the point how human civilizations work.

when you can’t be loyal towards your society, it brings the question around to what exact arbitrary thing would you be loyal to?

you don’t try to be loyal. you’re either loyal or you’re not.

as humans, you’re only loyal to people who didn’t make you question their own. this is where phobia arises. no matter how hard you disagree - apply the same line in your interpersonal relationship and elsewhere and you’d find that to be true.

just try that with your spouse/signficant other.

so how do we prevent such basic fundamental human psych flaws from turning us into pure beasts? education, rationalism and tolerance.

the three things i mentioned leads us to have a better civilized life that’s tolerant towards others.

but there are always limits to the same.

any civilization which peaked into that - like greek city states, which peaked into that - later got perished and took over by those who had more primal instincts of human greed.

the only good thing that will come in - is the fact that those conquering civilizations will rapidly assimilate these as their elite and take their habits into theirs.

you can draw modern parallels to so many which i’ll leave to your own interpretation.

but you get the point as to the moderation you can be.

as much of a humanist you want to be where the whole world is yours, you can only afford to be so if your country is ruling the whole world.

until then, retain your loyalty to your country.
