What the gym changes beyond your body

Restored from Instagram posts ·

gym is one of the most under-rated places where you can recover both mentally and physically. it's not bro science. just go through it once and you won't know how to define it properly. it's like therapy and if you find the best mates to workout with, it gives you a family.

just imagine, when you think all is lost, and you feel like a total loser, you have 1000s of things lying around uncompleted because you procrastinated, you don't even know where your life is heading..

now you start going to the gym. you take that dumb-bell, wreck your muscles in the most efficient way without any ego (ego-lifts are banned) - when you choose the weight you know that you can lift this and not this. you learn the basics of what you are capable right now and you do that effectively. you learn your first dose of discipline when you re-rack the dumb-bells post your workout.

next you learn patience there as you wait for your turn. you even help the other person as a spotter to achieve their routine. you learn from others. a place of zero ego. you see yourself in the mirror.

you come back home, you eat religiously in a disciplined manner. you suddenly start taking care of what food goes in and how much macros and micros and what nutrients you are taking in. all your life, you have never listened to your science book when it said you should have a balanced diet.

but now, you monitor each and every food item and ingredient enough for you to write your own science book.

now you start studying about different nutrients, different vitamins that are essential. things that you ignored in basic science.

you now know the actual muscle group name better than any first semester MBBS student. you search for anatomy and start reading your body.

you start learning about body mechanics. what works best. you have found a purpose now. your life is no longer meaningless.

it's in proper order. your food is in proper order, so are your habits. you are now contained.

you used to lift 2 kgs last week. now this week you are able to do 3 kgs. you see progress. you see yourself in the mirror and you are convinced that you can evolve. such conviction!

if you can evolve right before your eyes, where can you not evolve ? you get an insane confidence.

when you walk into your college/work with a slight sweet enjoyable muscular pain that allows you to feel and control each muscle that pains,.you now know that nothing else can cause you a greater pain than this. nothing else can make you afraid.

you have conquered pain because you are pain.

[a qualification: this is motivational language, not a reason to treat pain as a training goal or to ignore injury. physical strength also should not be the test of whether someone counts as a man.]

with this conviction, you are no longer a boy.

you are a Man.

now tell me. why won't you take a gym membership ?

this change from a boy to a man is not just evolution.

it's metamorphosis.

you became the nightmare itself what haunted you.

you are constantly becoming stronger, better and more intelligent.

now tell me son. why won't you take a gym membership ?

why won't you ?

go and take one.

“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.”- Socrates
