Why a country needs ports

there are two kinds of people. accelerators and decelerators (decels)

let's talk about ports

for a country who's larger parts are surrounded three sides by water, let's talk about how much are we exporting.

compare that with a country like Malaysia (I am taking an example to not put too much burn in the wound)

compare the entire port throughput (measures the amount of cargo or number of vessels the port handles over time)

or simply just compare our exports in volume. our entire port capacity with not every port of malaysia but just the biggest two that they have.

they'll beat us fair and square.

now that we have fairly established that we lack in ports, let's move to the next subject.

why do we need ports ?

if the value of the exports (the goods that we send out) are more than the value of the goods we import, the people in the country make money.

more money?

everyone's value of life increases, quality of life increases, better spend in infra, we can invest that money back in more manufacturing, more money, the cycle repeats until we all are a developed country,

our pay becomes like that of a developed country and the massive amount of poor people reduce to near zero.

i.e., everyone has food, shelter, clothing and education. no one sleeps hungry or sleeps without a roof over their head.

now we have established what functions the port does.

can the govt. sit and build ports, operate them to profitability? run it?

no. their job isn't running businesses. their job is to support them.

if not can public private partnerships or a private conglomerate do that?

yes. that's their main job.

the question is, why are we stopping them? who's benefitting from it?

or simply. why are the people who are doing sensational reels on this so interested to stop this?

infra development is peak ACCELERATIONISM. we need that.

ports literally are job manufacturers.

mark my words. a mere 1% investment of our annual budget in developing crucial infrastructures through indirect means by helping people who are building it,

will automatically raise millions of people from poverty through sheer momentum.

why are they super interested in ensuring that our economy is bogged down?

an efficient transport system inside the country (amazing roads, railways, domestic airports)

an efficient transport system outside the country (international air-freight, PORTS)

in the next 10 years will immediately take us fast and accelerate our economy within the next two to three decades.

what should india be doing ?

as a country, we should literally do what China did.

subsidize export. create a dept. for this.

how? any manufacturer wants to procure raw materials from JK to Kanyakumari?

govt. will ship it for free through railways to your factory. want to send your semi finished goods for further processing somewhere else? government will take care of that. special cargo road+rail routes.

wanna send bulk exports to anywhere in the world? free export. government subsidizes the shipping costs, makes certain things tax free. makes it so inexpensive,

that merchants now can offer shipping for FREE for all major orders all around the world.

now you can compete with Chinese prices. more cash comes into the country ? basic economics.

we all get rich (ofcourse I am not going deep on how exactly you can do. not enough time. but you get the context)

any infra development is gonna affect. if you are building your house, you didn't think about the amount of the natural flora and fauna you displaced?

aren't you in a well built place when you are filming it? where did the phone come from? a well built factory suitable for mass production?

you wanna reject modernity? go live in the forests with nothing. talk. we'll hear because then you'd have good intentions.

i always get pissed when these decels state environment as a thing for every 'EMOTIONAL' gaslighting they want to do.

so what do we do to offset these effects by these infra development?

we make it better by building artificial coral reefs (totally possible), we will build turtle havens.

we can easily make way for efficient fishing by building upgraded fishing port, a fishing hamlet so that their livelihoods aren't disturbed (not to mention the immense employment opportunities that they'll get with the port)

every major thing affected there with infra development can be fixed.

infra is absolutely necessary while also placing immense emphasis on 'conscious' building.
