freedom around clothes is not some shallow feminist obsession.
there is a reason why most civilizations from the annals of time, religion, caste, class, school, workplace, and family structure has had rules around clothing. there is a reason humiliation often begins by stripping someone. there is a reason dignity is associated with being covered, what someone could wear and what someone cannot and shame is associated with being exposed.
i am always almost pissed when people write why only clothes? it’s super low iq coded.
because the people who control women rarely start by saying “don’t have a career.” they start by controlling her body, clothes, movement, sexuality, friendships, and relationships. after that, education and career automatically become conditional.
the mistake is thinking clothes and relationships are separate from education and career. they are not. the same control that begins with “don’t wear this” usually continues into “don’t go there”, “don’t study there”, “don’t work there”, “don’t come home late”, “don’t marry him”, “don’t leave him”.
a woman who cannot decide what to wear without being judged, threatened, shamed, or unsafe is obviously not fully free in education or career either. because her public existence itself is conditional.
i can talk more about how being naked is one of the most vulnerable anyone can ever feel.
the real test of a civilized society is very simple: when a person is vulnerable, do people protect them or exploit them?
if someone is drunk, lost, unconscious, poor, alone at night, mentally unwell, or even naked in public, their dignity and safety should increase, not decrease.
nobody should think vulnerability is an invitation.
that is the point. i am tired of third world barbarism ideologies following nincompoops and uncles blaming clothing as an invitation to do evil things.
i am not advocating that people should walk around naked. but that even if someone was at their most vulnerable, society should not turn into predators.
if you even sheepishly felt happy seeing the first tweet i shared and truly feel bad after reading the next two stories,
you should understand that you’ve a responsibility to teach other adults including men and women about what i wrote.
if you still truly believe that what i wrote is bad and the tweet is right, you’re a third world barbarian unfit to be in the first world.
i can’t even ask you to commit sepukku since only the honorable would do that. thus, you’ll wait your turn until i get my reigns to make this place first world and when that happens, the rattan awaits.
the rod will make you first world.
